2nd Green Flag

Achievements > Green Schools

As the new secretary of the Green Flag Committee, I take the minutes at meetings. We are now working towards our 2nd Green Flag, which is based on reducing the amount of energy the school uses. We make sure that the doors are closed, the lights and TVs are turned off when they are not needed. We make sure also that the computers are not on stand-by. We go around the school at break times and before we go home from school. It is amazing how much energy this will save. The pupils will hopefully do the same at home and save money for theor parents.

We are also learning in class about the 2 main types of energy, Renewable and Non Renewable energy. We also learn about Kinetic, Electric and Chemical Energy. We now know after the terrible Earthquake in Japan, that we need to switch from Nuclear Energy to Renewable sources like Wind, Solar and Wave Energy.

Hopefully when our class gets to University there will be lots of cources on these subjects for us. Thanks to all the pupils, parents and teachers for your support.

We would like to thank the Board of Management, the Parents' Association, Fr. Desmond and our caretakers Mary Mulcahy and Pat Mangan who keep our school looking so well.
